IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Modern Language Association updated their guidelines on April 1, 2016. We have not yet updated this section of Resources for Researchers to reflect these changes. We have ordered a copy of the new guidelines and will update as soon as possible.

Parts of a Citation:
Medium of Publication

Until April 2009, the MLA guidelines assumed that a publication had been viewed as a paper copy. Now, no such assumption is made and every citation requires that the medium of pulication be listed: Print, Web, Film, CD, Laser Disc, Sound Flmstrip, Slide Program, Television, DVD, E-mail, and CD-Rom.
