Explanation
Although teaching is one of the criteria used to determine fair use, materials used in the classroom are not automatically covered by "fair use." For example, "fair use" is one time use. If you copy the same article two semesters in a row, the first semester's copies might come under the fair use criteria. However, the second semester's copies would not be covered because you had time to seek the permission of the author.
