City of Publication For Newspaper Citations
According to the MLA Handbook: "If the City of publication is not included in the name iof the locally published newspaper, add the city in square brackets, not italicized.†(141) However, for national newspapers "such as The New York Times" you do not list the city.
Furthermore, for newspapers printed in English, you do not include the article (e.g. "The" in The New York Times. However, articles are included in non-English newspapers. The MLA Handbook uses Le monde as an example. (141)
