Databases

The organizational requirements for a typical undergraduate research paper do not usually require a database. But, if you are beginning a long term project or are trying to organize materials you plan to keep as part of your professional development, you might want to invest in a database program.

Because of their complexity, organizing research with databases is outside the scope of this tutorial. And because of the vast number of specialized databases, it is not possible for me to make recommendations.

On-line Organizational Tools

There are a variety of tools such as Delicious and Google Docs that allow you to organize research which can also be shared in a team setting. Again, given the number and variety of these resources, I cannot adequately address them here. Your professor might have some specific suggestions to facilitate the type of projects she or he assigns.
