Promoting Integrity at the Classroom Level:
Send Letters/E-mail

About a week before classes begin, I send a letter to my students in which I introduce myself and tell them a little bit about the class. I also send an e-mail or snail-mail note to students who do something extraordinary in class.

In addition to sending out class notes, I will also send reminder e-mails to the entire class. Students appreciate this type of correspondence.

Not all e-mails are designed to re-enforce positive behavior. For example, I do send an e-mail expressing concern to students who miss the first day of class.
