Promoting Integrity in Assignments:
Prohibit Last Minute Changes

Permitting students to change topics at the last minute is almost always setting them up for failure. First, a last minute change typically signals that work has not been completed and that the student will be rushed to finished. Students who are rushed are more likely to commit plagiarism or some other form of academic dishonesty.

Another factor is that a student who changes topics at the last minute will not have the time to do quality research. Even if they don't chat, such students will not do well.
