I know the character is copyrighted, but it is my story line.
Explanation
Writing a story in which Superman is the star infringes on copyright because it would be considered a derivative work and is therefore protected. Writing a story that has Sherlock Holmes as the main character is acceptable because the copyright on Holmes has expired.
