Attending a lecture, speech, or presentation on your subject can be an enjoyable way to do research. You can check local events calendars in newspapers, community organizations, and area colleges and universities to see what might be available.
There are over 1,500 TED talks available on-line. TED "a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world's most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other." There are several TED talks I use in my classes and I encourage students to consult TED to locate talks on topics that interest them.
