Basic Copyright Issues:
Fair Use

Copyright law does not give exclusive rights to an author. In certain circumstances, you are allowed to reproduce copyrighted material without first getting the author's permission.

Professor Eric Faden of Bucknell University has created "A Fair(y) Use Tale " using excepts from Disney cartoons to explain fair use. This ten minute video does an excellent job of explaining basic fair use provisions.

As part of Resources for Researchers, I include a "Fair Use Checklist" tutorial.
